Exciting Butoh News and Happy Winter Celebrations! See you in 2014.

2014 looks full of new projects!

In regards to the Butoh festival,

The 2014 Third Butoh festival edition is going national and international! For this occasion the festival will have a new name:

“MOVING BODIES – Butoh Festival Italy – Ireland – Scotland”

We have received immense support from Dance HouseFirkin CraneGalway Dance Project, Teatro Espace in Torino, Italy and Spazio Menomale Bologna, Glasgow and Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh and there might be a possibility to add Belfast to the tour.  We are very excited to get this festival on the road, and so grateful to all those that are  working to make this happen. Thank you!

In regards to Dublin, our vision this year is that of bringing the festival in public spaces and making it that bit more inclusive; for this purpose we are devising a show for children – well … for children of all ages! and different types of collaborations to promote  aspects of body-mind practices and Japanese culture influences.

In terms of Butoh dance practice, Ambra G. Bergamasco will be based in Dance House from the 8th of January 7pm – this will be an open class- and classes will run for eight weeks from the 16th of January from 7 to 9pm. 12 euro drop in; 80euro for eight weeks. Everyone is very welcome, no previous experience needed.

Lastly, Ambra has been awarded a four week residency in Dance House commencing in April 2014. This will be a wonderful opportunity to research, train and develop new trajectories of poetics in her work.
