Miriam Needham – Theatre Artist

I am an theatre artist somewhat-based in Dublin. My background is in physical theatre, having trained for two years at Lecoq in Paris, but my work varies from puppetry to dance theatre to clowning to political theatre.
I am a co-founder and member of the home|work collective, a group of pro-choice activist/performers. I also perform with Speaking of I.M.E.L.D.A. I am recently returned from India, where I was performing with The Flying Seagull Project, bringing theatre and circus to children living in slums and orphanages.

The piece I am proposing for ‘Difference – Own Your Difference’ is entitled: ‘PINHOLE’ It is a solo dance/spoken word piece about bulimia and mental health.

“…But they take up space in me. I’m bursting. I’m bursting with people. I’m bursting with all of you. Everyone, everyone, inside me, they just want to be inside me. I have so much space for all of you. I have flattened my soul tight against my ribcage just to let you in.

So tell me, tell me, tell me. Tell me everything you did today. Tell me the size of the oranges you ate. Tell me what you named each one…”
